We've come a long way to where the mountain is high
I take my cedar to where the mountain is high
What I need is a peace and quiet
What we see is an illusion
I have no reason to confuse them
I have no reason to confuse my brothers

They have real shotguns
They were baby killers
But I warned you many times that they will burn down your house

Not today (what can I do)
Not today (to make it better)

What we need is a persuasion
What you give is retaliation
I hope one day we meet again
I hope one day we love one another
They were young soldiers
They were old liars
But I heard the rumor that they will burn down your house

Not today (what can I do)
Not today (to make it better)
They will burn down your house

Lean on me

You've seen sad times,
Your eyes have told me so,
Blue and bad times,
You think that I don't know,
But there'll be glad times,
Just you wait and see,
And there'll be a sun rise,
If you lean on me,
Said lean on me babe,
You can lean on me,

I imagine I could comfort you,
I have forgotten,
The things that you've been through,
But there's one thing,
On which we can a agree,
When you're ready darling,
You can lean on me,
And the love I bring,
Will grow into a lasting thing,

Put your heart on wings,
And set you free,
And as you rise,
Up into the clearing skies,
Maybe you will realise,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me,

All your heartache,
Hidden deep inside,
So there's no telling,
How many tears you've cried,
But like the river,
To the weeping willow tree,
I can hold your teardrops child,
So lean on me,

And the love I bring,
Will grow into a lasting thing,
Put your heart on wings,
And set you free,
And as you rise,
Up into the clearing skies,
Maybe you will realise,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me.

Doesn't Matter

She's gone and you don't know how
but you know it doesn't matter now.

Couldn't find a way to make her stay
but it doesn't matter anyway.

Don't be sad, I know you want to hold her.
Now you think of all you should have told her.

She's gone and you don't know why,
now you need to have her by your side,

Think of all the things you'll do,
while I find a love that's good for you.

Don't be sad, I know you want to hold her
You lay your head upon my shoulder.

She's gone and you don't know why

Don't be sad, i know you want to hold her
You lay your head upon my shoulder.

Presence

Presence: A photo exhibition of Katerina Stathopoulou @ Alba Art Space

Few words about the exhibition:

Fairy Tales and Lies for Grown-Ups

Zoumboulakis Galleries present “Fairy Tales and Lies for Grown-Ups” the first solo exhibition by Jenny Kodonidou. Small and large scale works painted with different materials compose her “dream-world”.

This fragmentary world constitutes of contemporary symbols, cartoon heroes, animals, human figures which function as references of the global art history (figures from the early-renaissance to rococo).

The paper where the artist draws works as a tracker of stories and of real or unreal worlds. Painting manages to embellish even the ugliest or more irrational side of reality.

Exhibition duration: 12 January to 4 February 2012

The Wanderer

The world is far
The world is wide
The man needs someone
By his side

The world is deep
The world is high
And no one knows
The reason why

The seasons come
The seasons go
The summer fruit
And the winter snow

But here we are
And here we stay
Until the time
To go away

All they say
Is a land that is great
And is grand, there’s no fear and no pain
We will all live again
And everyone will find the ones they love

All the world is far
The world is wide
The man needs someone
By his side

The world is deep
The world is high
And know one knows
The reason why

I wish to be nothing more

I wish to be nothing more
Than the cedar by your house
Than a bough on the cedar

Than a branch on the bough
Than a leaf on the branch
Than a shadow of the leaf

Than a wave of the shadow
That for one second
Cools your brow

Do-It-Yourself Bicycle

It's been a long time

It's been a long time
Since I've seen your smiling face
It's been a long time
Since I've seen a sunny day

It's been a long time
Since you wore your pillbox hat
It's been a long time
Since we drove your Pontiac

It's been a long time
Since you gave me butterflies
It's been a long time
Since I seen it burning in your eyes
But I don't mind (I don't mind)
No I don't (I don't mind)

When I've got you next to me

It's been a long time
Since we tripped into this ditch
It's been a long time
Since we drank the arsenic

It's been a long time
Since we've been inside of this tomb
It's been a long time
Since you wore your expensive French perfume
But I don't mind (I don't mind)
No I don't (I don't mind)

When I've got you next to me

It's been a long time
Since I've seen your smiling face
It's been a long time
Since I've seen a sunny day
